HOME HAPPENING Groups for 2010 Have Begun Each group is encouraged to meet monthly (usually the first Sunday evening of the month) and to commit to this fellowship time through May . Don’t wait for someone to invite you, start a group with a few other people yourself. Or contact Rich or Sandy Davis if you would like to be in a group! It is a wonderful opportunity to meet with others in the church and gain new friends or have time with old friends! Or if others are interested in starting a group, please get approx. 6 people together at first and then begin to invite others to share this time to make closer friendships and new relationships among our Wabash Friends community. The purpose of the Home Happening Group ministry at Wabash Friends is two-fold. First, the groups are meant to put the congregation into smaller groups where they can build relationships with other members. Secondly, this is an opportunity to reach out to new attenders of the church so they can feel more included in the fellowship. Some groups continue their groups from year to year for the purpose of continued fellowship, accountability, and support. Others prefer the diversity of a new group of people each year. The most important aspect of the group is that each person feels comfortable to fellowship and share with others in the group. Each month from October to May someone from each group will host the Home Happening group in their home. Either they or the facilitator will call each member of the group and tell them the place and time for the group to meet. If there is normally a meal for the group, this would be the time to determine what part of the menu the guest would bring for the meal. Also, each month someone from the group will be responsible for a short devotion. Hopefully, this time will be used to encourage open discussion and sharing. Those facilitating the devotion time are free to select their own topic. However, we would encourage each group to continue the theme of the sermon topics. For instance, groups could begin again with Colossians and discuss the various topics we have had this past summer through September Our prayer is that the Home Happening groups reflect the purpose of Wabash Friends: If you would like to be in a Home Happenings group, contact Sandy or Rich Davis at 260.563.8452 |
