REACHING OUT AROUND THE WORLD…..

Missions has been a priority of Wabash Friends for many, many years. Those of you who remember Cecilia Mills will remember her prayers that the church would become mission minded and would send out missionaries. God has honored that prayer through many of you and because of your faithfulness to give, to pray for, and to go, many have come to know Christ.

In this newsletter, you will see the 2010 mission goals. We have 12 months to reach these goals. However, there is something more important than just attaining this goal financially. It is the hope and prayer of the Missions Committee that each person affiliated with our church will pray over this list and develop a relationship through prayer and giving and possibly even going to assist one of these missionaries or mission stations.

Ask yourself, “Where is my heart in missions?” As you look over the list, which ones are more precious to you? Which ones grip your heart and make you want to know more or do more? Check them and begin to pray over these. Next Sunday, look for the brochures of the missions you and God have chosen. These should be in the Missions turnstile to the right of the Missions Display Case. If you need more information, contact the Missions Committee members or the church staff.

As you pray over the ones you have culled out, you should sense that God is leading you to support one or two of these missions financially. And as you continue to pray, ask God to lead you toward the specific mission or missionary where He would have you focus your missions heart.

In the coming year, reach out to this mission station or missionary prayerfully and financially. You might even want to consider a short-term missions trip to this mission. In fact, if you want to lead a team or go on a mission trip, please contact Eric Dale, Missions Committee Clerk, or someone else on the Missions Committee.

The result of this effort will look like a miracle because we have let God direct us. If each of us asks God to lead us toward the mission of our heart, each of the mission stations and missionaries will be prayed for more than ever, each financial goal will be met, and many at Wabash Friends will be personally involved with God’s work through missions. And best of all, each of us will be reaching out to our community and around the world as God’s hands and feet.
