Position: Communications Administrative Coordinator
About our church: Wabash Friends is a growing and vibrant church established in 1848. Currently we are in a new building program to add a children's educational center and a youth facility to reach the youth of our community. Wabash Friends seeks to meet the needs of the broken hearted in the community through various ministries such as a Counseling Center, Angel Food Ministries, a youth drop in center, a mid-week Family activity night, MOPs and world missions teams. Wabash Friends ministers to the whole person (physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually) to create life long followers of Jesus Christ. Average attendance of our 3 Sunday morning services (we have both traditional and contemporary services) is over 500. There are 4 full time ministry staff and three part-time. We are located in north central Indiana near Ft. Wayne.
Job Duties and Responsibilities: Develop a strategic plan for all communication that comes in or out of our weekly staff meeting, and Ministry and Oversight meetings (monthly) and the all church monthly meeting for business and worship, by connecting the information to the people in the congregation and greater Wabash community. Build effective teams of passionate adults who will execute the strategic communication plan. Work with the staff to continue to creatively develop and update our websites (church and counseling center), church database, newsletters, bulletins and online social networking sites (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Linked In). Work with the Director of the Counseling Center (10 hours a week) to help coordinate and market the Marriage Retreat (February), Day of Healing : A Personal Growth Conference (November), and the Counseling Center services.
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications: The applicant must have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, displaying character, honesty and integrity above reproach; a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field is preferred; must be a team player; proficiency in leading and building teams of volunteers; displays creative and positive thinking; Proficient in computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power-Point and publishing software such as InDesign or QuarkPress; Skills in organization, communication, web design, database set up and organization and relational skills are essential for this position.
Accountability: The Communications Administrative coordinator reports to the pastoral staff and is accountable to the Ministry and Oversight committee and the Monthly meeting.
Work Schedule: This is a full-time, hourly position with a regular office hours between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some additional hours are required to meet the demands of the position.
