JUST BETWEEN FRIENDS A Heart for God ... A Heart for People Page 3, April

Youth Nooz . . .April 2008

Spring is a time of transition. We are transitioning from cold weather to warmer weather, from winter to summer, from basketball season to baseball season. There is evidence of this about every time we look out the window. Melting snow, sunshine that is actually warm, buds on the trees becoming leaves…all of these point to

the fact that a change in coming. We live in a place of constant transition in our spiritual lives as well. God is always on the move, always

calling us to new action, always challenging us to find ways to love better. Revelation chapter 21 verse 5 reminds us that God is in the process of “making everything

new”. He is taking all the broken stuff of the world and putting it back to the way it was meant to be. I wonder sometimes why the word “making” is used here.

Why doesn’t He just snap His fingers and pop it all into place? Wouldn’t that be a lot easier for all parties involved? Perhaps this reveals a bit of God’s character.

Perhaps our God is more concerned with the “process” than He is with the “destination”. Perhaps the transitions in our spiritual lives have a deep meaning that are pieces

of this puzzle that God is putting back together. So, what about you? What transition are you facing right now? Where is God challenging you to move to new places?

Here are some of the events for the month of April:

Guys Nite Out – The girls already had their turn, now it is time for the guys to have a turn at hanging out at the church for an evening, just doing “guy” stuff. We’ll get lots of food, lots of pop, have lots of video games, and just have a good time being dudes. Bring some snacks, bring your favorite video games and consoles (games must be rated TEEN or lower), and come on out!

We’ll meet at 8pm on the 11th, and we’ll go home at 7am on the 12th.

Extreme Games – Looking ahead a bit to June, we are going to put together and afternoon / evening of

games that will ROCK YOUR WORLD. We’ll get dirty, we’ll play hard, and we’ll have a BLAST! So, mark

June 7th on your calendars now!

Remember:

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for

these words are trustworthy and true.” Revelation 21:5

May Newsletter

May is the month we pause for a moment to congratulate those who are transitioning from High School into that next place in life. We attend commencement ceremonies, we go to Open Houses, we tell them how proud we are that they have made it to this place in life.

With this "Graduation focused time," the inevitable questions come up (whether you are a graduate or not)…So…what do you want to do in life? Do you want to teach? What about accounting? Maybe you are interested in something in the Medical field? With these questions come the pressures to know ANSWERS to them. And, sometimes we’re just not there yet.

Well, let me give you one thing that is always a good answer to questions about the future. I urge you to consider to always allow yourself to follow Christ. I know this sounds like a cheesy "Sunday School" answer, but there is so much life in this path. God promises us over and over in His Word that He is present with us, and He desires the best for us, and He is a source of life and love. What can go wrong with that?

Here are a few notes about what is going on this month:

Mother’s Day – May 11 is the day to hang with mom, give her something a little special, and let her know how great she is. We won’t have a Youth Meeting that night so you can be with mom.

Graduations and Open Houses – We will also not meet on May 25th so you all can go to all the Graduation Open Houses and tell all those graduates how great they are.

Get Signed Up For Camp – As always, we have some AMAZING weeks in the works for you guys up at Quaker Haven. The dates for camp are:

Jr. High Camp – June 15-20

Sr. High Camp I – June 22-27

Sr. High Camp II – July 13-18

Extreme Games Night – Stay tuned b/c we are planning an entire afternoon of great games that you all will LOVE!!! Keep your eyes and ears open!

Remember:

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. -Psalm 119:105
